Google Updates Chrome App Policy, Will Yank Offending Apps
Chrome Web apps must follow a new privacy policy that requires them to disclose how they track users' data, Google announced today. Going forward, developers must post a privacy policy, use encryption to handle sensitive data, and ask users to consent to the collection of personal or sensitive data.

Microsoft Cortana for Android Now in Public Beta, Here's How to Download
Cortana is now available to all Android users - well at least in select regions. Microsoft has announced the public beta of its digital voice assistant for devices powered by Google's mobile operating system. Cortana is available for download in the US via Google Play Store. It is officially not yet available in India, but you can still sideload it on your device.

Google Photos v1.2 for Android Brings New Album Features and More
Google, after introducing the 'Your Timeline' feature in Google Maps, has now updated its Google Photos service, bumping the app version to 1.2. The updated app lets users easily add images to albums, create photo descriptions, and pick an album cover. The updated app so far has only been released for Android, with no word of when it will reach iOS.

There are a lot of Gmail users out there who access Google Hangouts on a regular basis, but don't even realize it. Hangouts has been the default in-browser chat client in Gmail (or Google+, if you're weird) for many years, but many users still refer to it by the name of its less-versatile predecessor, Google Chat (or colloquially, "Gchat").
