5 Fun Free OS's To Play with

We all use Windows 10 for our main productive applications, but if you’re bored of Windows 10, and don’t mind trying something new, check out these five fun OS’s which will break the monotony, and who knows, may become your new daily driver!
Steam OS

Steam OS

This OS will definitely attract avid hard-core gamers. Steam OS is an entire operating system based on Linux, specifically meant for gaming, making your PC into a full scale gaming console. There are certain hardware requirements for the OS which you can have a look at here. The OS consists of a ton of gaming titles, and since this OS is specifically meant for gaming, the performance is definitely far better than running games on Windows, and then using Steam to load games.

Chromium OS

Chrome OS is an entire operating system built around Google’s Chrome browser. It primarily runs web applications. The OS is light and snappy and the best part is that it’s the most ideal for outdated laptops and machines which would run smoothly on the Chrome OS. You get the entire bundle of Google Apps as well as various other third party apps from the Chrome Web Store.
Although Chrome OS isn’t openly available for download, a New York start up named Neverware is using this project with the help of Chromium open source project to help schools upgrade their old machines to perform better and stay up to date. The best part is that it’s available for free for home users, and it’s easy to install too

Lakka

We all loved gaming on classic 8-bit/ 16-bit gaming consoles like NES, Sega Genesis, etc. And although we can no longer find these consoles that easily, we still have emulators, which allow us to relive our old memories, and Lakka just takes it a step further. Lakka is a lightweight Linux distribution that transforms a small computer into a full blown retro game console. It can be set up either on a PC or various other micro platforms like the Raspberry Pi. It doesn’t need heavy hardware, and the UI too is reminiscent to PS3’s UI, making console gamers feel at home.

Ubuntu comes ready with productive applications, like Libre office suite, Google Chrome, Thunderbird by Mozilla for email and much more, from the Ubuntu software centre. It is light on hardware, snappy on software, looks amazing and it’s free!
